RVA Fall Calendar of Events

October 7, 2015

Why does Main Street Homes love building houses in RVA?  Because we know what a great town this is!  Main Street’s clients enjoy calling Richmond, VA “home sweet home” because there is so much to do in the River City.  Fall is the season of abundance, not only in the pumpkin patches, but all over town.  From scary to merry, check out these fall happenings:

  1. Richmond Folk Festival. Where else can you find 40 performers on 7 stages in 3 days?  Richmonders perennially love this festival for its eclectic mix of musical artists.  The scene?  Richmond’s historic riverfront, where the world comes to us through international beats, bands, and traditions.  As the biggest folk festival in the nation, RVA is proud to host for the 11th year in a row.  From hipsters to families looking for a fun outing, the Richmond Folk Festival is a crowd pleaser for all ages and ears.  Happening the weekend of October 9th -11th at Brown’s Island in Richmond’s downtown.  For more info, visit http://www.richmondfolkfestival.org
  1. Chesterfield Berry Farm Fall Festival and Total Terror Scream Park. It’s a maize maze, yall!  Mosey on down to Moseley to check out the all-new Total Terror Scream Park at Chesterfield Berry Farm.  Explore the dark side of corn at Central Virginia’s only haunted corn maze.  If you dare, take a tour of the Total Terror haunted trail, Pear Orchard Asylum, and Live Zombie Paintball.  If it’s all too horrifying, pop over to the pumpkin patch and enjoy a hayride, pig race, moon bounce, barrel train, or corn cannon.  Happening every weekend in October at Chesterfield Berry Farm in Moseley, VA in southern Chesterfield.  For more info, visit http://chesterfieldberryfarm.com.
  1. 2ND ANNUAL OKTOBERFEST. You can’t let October pass you by without attending a proper Oktoberfest!  One of RVA’s most treasured locations, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, is hosting this year’s event. If you’ve never been, this is a great reason to take in the sights of Lewis Ginter’s Robins Tea House in the northside.  Enjoy live music, local beer, food, games, prizes and a food drive benefiting FeedMore’s Central VA Food Bank.  Oktoberfest will be held outdoors amid the lush gardens of RVA’s only botanical garden on October 24, 2015, rain or shine.  Presented by Center of the Universe, Republic National Distributing Co., Meriwether-Godsey, & Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.  Want to know more?  Visit http://www.lewisginter.org/event/oktoberfest/
  1. Fire, Flour and Fork Festival. It’s a taste bud extravaganza organized by Real Richmond Food Tours! Discover the next culinary genius amid the demonstrations, visiting chefs and multiple collaborative dinners with chefs from RVA and beyond.  A “Class Pass” grants you admission to two days of dining events, food producers, filmmakers, poets, playwrights, culinary historians, craft spirit makers, cookbook signings, tablewear designers as well as access to the Artisanal Tasting Tent where you can sample 30 food and drink vendors.  Special ticketed events include a Beaux Arts Ball at the Jefferson Hotel, a Bartender Battle at Amuse at the VMFA, and Madeira Mixology at Julep’s.  It’s a potluck of Richmond’s complex history and rising culinary stars.  Happening at the Hilton Downtown Richmond on October 30-31.  Special tours begin on October 28th.  Visit http://www.fireflourandfork.com for the full schedule.
  1. The Legwarmers at The National. After all the festivals in October, you’ll be ready to shake it 80’s style with The Legwarmers in November.  It’s also a great excuse to visit RVA’s historic National Theatre in the heart of downtown.  The Legwarmers is an 80’s band with a following, so dig up those neon headbands and legwarmers because this show invites guests to arrive with their Aquanet 80’s hair in tact.  The show is slated for Friday, November 20th.  Page your friends (80’s style) and get your tickets now: http://www.thenationalva.com/events/detail/the-legwarmers-ultimate-80s-experience-6
