Tour Main Street's Design Studio

October 21, 2015

Screen Shot 2015-10-21 at 1.04.56 PM Driving past Main Street Homes’ Design Studio in Westchester Commons you can almost hear the oooohhhhs and the aaaahhhhs from the street. Inside the Design Studio, future homeowners are running their hands along sleek countertops, selecting from dozens of Delta faucets, testing the soft close cabinet drawers, and admiring the Blanco granite sinks. It’s eye candy for the homeowners-to-be, and there’s lots of it. It all starts with a preview night, held each Tuesday, for anyone interested in purchasing a home with Main Street. It’s fun and friendly – delightfully low key – with snacks and a one-hour tour of the showroom. Everyone in attendance gets a binder with spec sheets, neighborhood plats, and options – lots and lots of options – including everything from the inside out; siding and roofing to carpet and light fixtures…you get to see it all. Screen Shot 2015-10-21 at 1.05.44 PMAs you stroll through the showroom, you can see for yourself what MSH has to offer. For example, you can see what a Main Street Butler’s Pantry looks like. This is where you ask yourself, “do I want a wine rack?” and “should it have stem holders?” Everywhere you turn allows you a direct visual on “standard features” versus “upgrades.” For instance, a standard Main Street kitchen offers granite countertops, a backsplash, stainless steal appliances, and 3” plank hardwood floors. Turn the corner to find an upgraded kitchen with an accent island, under cabinet lighting, “Cambria” all quartz countertops, and wide plank, hand scraped hardwood floors. Do you want standard subway tile or a Herringbone installation backsplash? Decisions. Decisions. Once homeowners decide to move forward with Main Street Homes, three meetings take place. The first one is a planning meeting that takes about two hours. Your personal Design Consultant goes through your building plans with a fine-tooth-comb, room-by-room and window-by-window. If you decided to add a porch or a deck, your Design Consultant makes sure it’s on the plans exactly as you wanted it, while also ensuring it complies with your neighborhood’s Homeowners Association. Screen Shot 2015-10-21 at 1.04.54 PMThe next meeting is a biggie – 4 hours! – where you select your interior finishes and fixtures. This is where you pick your doorknobs, tile, lighting, carpet, cabinetry, hardware, faucets, and trim moldings. What kind of staircase do you want? Closed or open risers? Do you want your mantle with or without dental molding? Every interior finish you can dream of….this is where you select it. It’s not uncommon for Design Consultants to pull together selections of flooring, cabinetry, granite and hardware so you can see them coordinated right in front of you. At your third meeting all the selections from your previous meeting are laid out on the design board for you to see one last time. This is called the Pre-Construction meeting where you speak with the Construction Manager about your lot, grading, and topography of the site. Building a home is an exciting time full of decisions, and Main Street Homes takes pride in our commitment to the process as well as the product. Our Design Consultants are passionate about what they do, and it shows in their enthusiasm and knowledge. Stop by for a tour of our Design Studio and see for yourself. The gleaming granite and twinkling light fixtures are just waiting for you. Visit the design studio Monday through Friday, or stop by  every Tuesday for our Design Preview Night from 5:15pm to 7:15pm.
