What’s New in the Design Center?

May 5, 2016

Last fall we gave you a peek inside the Main Street Homes’ Design Studio in Westchester Commons where future MSH homeowners were busy picking selections and dazzling designs.   There have been some exciting changes since then –including remodeling – so let’s find out what’s new in Main Street Homes’ Design Center! The Design Center is the hub for all things trendy and fashionable in home décor, so it’s no surprise that we strive to keep it fresh and on trend.  This was the motivation behind our remodeling, which began with a shift to reflect lighter, white cabinets with grey granite and quartz countertops.  If you’ve been on Pinterest or Houzz lately, you’ve seen the sea of white and grey kitchens pinned and posted everywhere.  Now you can see some of these selections in person at our design center. Another big trend that will appear right beneath your feet are the wide planked, hand scraped hardwood floors.  Their popularity right now is unmatched. Also making a big splash is our impact lighting collection that offers a variety of choices that incorporate mid-century modern looks along with rustic styles and vintage bulbs.  In the kitchen, where subway tile has long ruled the roost, backsplash tiles are now getting thinner and longer, with more inspired patterns like herringbone. Also getting thinner and longer are floor tiles, with popular choices in the 12”x24” size and the 6” x 24” plank looks. In the color department, all things boil down to splendid shades of grey.  It has become such a popular color throughout all parts of the home, from finishes to floors, that MSH has incorporated cabinet, tile, and hardwood choices in multiple shades of gray. Also since last fall, we’ve added a new Design Consultant to our group, so we now have three staff members to help homeowners collect their ideas and make them come to life.  Their role in the Design Studio is critical; as they assist homeowners who’ve pinpointed their favorite designs in magazines, Pinterest and Houzz.  MSH design experts turn these inspirations into reality, while also guiding those through the process who may come to us with a blank slate.  We’re here to help homeowners through all the selection choices, from countertops to cabinets, and from moldings to mantles.   Some things haven’t changed at the Design Center, including the MSH weekly preview night - held each Tuesday- for anyone interested in Main Street Homes.  This is where folks who are interested in MSH visit the showroom, receive a binder with spec sheets, neighborhood maps, home options and learn about the building process from the inside out.  We invite you to join us on any upcoming preview night!  Just give us a call and we’ll save you a spot!
