April 26, 2014

9088648_mMoving can certainly be an overwhelming task with renting a truck, hiring movers, packing up your belongings, etc. There are many things to keep in mind when moving into one of the beautiful new homes in Chesterfield. Permits. If you are moving from a home that doesn’t have a driveway for the moving truck or the storage container, you may need to get a permit. Out of sight out of mind! Make a few sweeps around your house to make sure you aren’t leaving anything behind. Common places that people forget to check are crawl spaces, attics and cabinets. Lender. Don’t forget your items that you may have lent to neighbors, friends or family members. Take an inventory of the items and make plans to retrieve them before the move. Sleeping Arrangements. Depending on your moving schedule you may want to consider packing your mattress last. This way it will be the first item off of the truck. At the end of a long move, you may be too tired to unload anything else but the bed. Utilities. Remember if you don’t turn the electricity/gas on no one els will. It is a good idea to turn off your utilities 2-3 days after you move and turn them on at your new home 2-3 prior to moving in. Mail. Don’t forget to have your mail forwarded to your new address. Forwarding your mail will give you a couple of months to permanently change your mailing address with various institutions. Keeping these things in mind will help your move into one of the new homes in Chesterfield a smooth one.
